We have been in Miami for almost a week now, and we have very much slowed down the pace of the trip! When we arrived we got a cab straight to Ginny's (a family friend of Ashling's) who lives in a very nice appartment near Hollywood beach. Fortunately Mel was able to sort out the timeshare quickly so we only stayed there for a few days and then we were dropped off at our hotel in Weston. It is a bit in the middle of nowhere, you need a car to really do anything so we decided to stay for 10 days rather than the full 2 weeks and are just enjoying the many pools and eating nice food! Its been really great though, there are quite a few activities put on by the resort, mainly enjoyed by the older people who seem to dominate this reort but everyone is having fun. We also heard back from continental airlines and have been able to re-route our flight out of Cancun for free, as we are no longer in Mexico! So we will be flying to San Diego next wednesday and will be back on track with our initial plans for the States. The weather has been great everyday, it seems that this year has been particularly dry for Florida. Im looking forward to getting back on track with travelling a bit more, it feels strange doing this kind of holiday on our trip!

Nana says - I think it has pobably done you both good to unwind for a bit - aren't you fortunate to have such great accommodation - make the most of it - love to you both xx
ReplyDeleteHi Jon and Ashling,
ReplyDeleteWe thought about you both a lot yesterday when we all got together at Duton Hill to celebrate Nigel's birthday. Ben Em and Tom all made it, so we were really missing you both to make up the full complement! We had a lovely afternoon in the garden; as you can tell it's unseasonably warm here at the moment so we're making the most of it. Chloe was also missing having decided that she'd rather queue up all day outside a building in Cambridge, to ensure they got front row places for a McFly concert, than be at a party with the old folk! It seems from your blog that you are itching to be on your way again, and with the whole of the USA waiting for you, that's perfectly understandable. Have a great time on the next leg of your explorations,
With much love and best wishes,
Judith & Peter xx
PS Loving your photos on Facebook Ashling. Ben has been forwarding them on for us to see and admire. Wish we were there!!
